I have the honour to enclose a Cheque No. ... upon the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in your name for $1000 which amount I have been requested by the "Commission Municipale de Saigon" to transmit you as a contribution towards the Hongkong Typhoon funds, with their most heartfelt and sincere sentiments of condolence in the great catastrophe experienced by your Colony.
I have further the honour to enclose copy of the letter from the President-Maire and my reply thereto.
